On Monday 12 August, Rijkswaterstaat will begin works on the Juliana Canal. Rijkswaterstaat will remove an old construction pit and subsequently widen the final section of the canal. The blockage will last until the spring of 2025. Shipping traffic must detour north on the River Meuse or south on the Albert Canal past Antwerp.
From 5 August to 27 September, maintenance work is also planned on the east lock of the Kreekrak locks. During this period, therefore, only the west lock will be available. For more information concerning the simultaneous work and the reasons for the convergence, please see the full article on the website of Rijkswaterstaat.
