Since Monday, June 17, on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., ships sail in fixed 45-minute blocks when passing through the Albert Canal works.
For the works it is necessary that during the hoisting and initial positioning of the sheet piles at critical points no wave impact is caused by passing ships. To enable coordination between passing traffic and the works, the contractor will align the lifting operations with these fixed 45-minute blocks.
Working with fixed blocks also makes it possible to display at least the schedule for the next 3 hours (4 passages) in APICS Barge (Port Guide). This gives inland navigation a better view of passage opportunities and possible peak times.
Outside these hours and on weekends there is flexible scheduling.
